Emma Powers- Novice Team Assistant Coach

Emma hails from Mansfield CT where she began her rowing career coxing for EO Smith High School. She soon became a founding member, sculler and coach for Coventry Lake Community Rowing. 

Powers was recruited to Drexel University as a coxswain for the Drexel Womens Rowing team where she coxed the freshman 8+ and varsity 4+ her first year. She spent her summer off from school at Community Rowing Inc where she coached learn to row camps, apprentaced under Brent Bode, and increased her knowledge of boat repair. She competed in a single scull at the Henley royal regatta and coxed both the mens and womens 8+ for CRI.  Emma coxed the 1v and 2v 8+ her sophomore year before making the difficult decision to transfer to the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence Rhode Island.

Once settling in as an Industrial Design major at RISD, Emma joined the Narragansett Boat Club, where she coxed and raced with the Masters Womens team, coached by Robin Gross. She became the full-time Boatsman, and coached youth and masters rowers, while maintaining honor roll at RISD.

After graduating in 2023 Powers returned to Connecticut and to the sport she loves as an Assistant Coach and Boatsman at Connecticut Boat Club, where she is excited to spread her expertise and passion for Womens Rowing, while continuing to pursue her career in the arts.
